River Source Music Therapy

Hi. I'm Yen-pei Chen, a qualified music therapist trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Having lived across different cultures and worked in different roles, I have a deep respect for human resilience. I believe that music is innate to all of us, and it has the power transform experience, connect people, and to heal. What’s music therapy?Music connects us, even when words fail. We’re all born to respond to music, and we carry music within us, in our heartbeats and our breath. Music therapists are clinically trained to find a way to engage with each person. By attuning attentively to clients’ unique speech, sound and gestures, we provide psychological support without the need for words. What happens in a session? There is no need for any musical skill or training to participate. Sessions are tailored to each client's needs and aims. We may chat, listen to music, sing or talk about familiar songs, or explore sounds and create music together.Engaging in a collaborative, supportive therapeutic relationship can significantly improve physical, social, mental and emotional wellbeing.Music therapy can help to:
• Strengthen communication skills
• Feel less isolated or lonely
• Enable self-expression
• Reduce anxiety
• Build self-confidence
• Live in the present
